RetroBar - Makes the taskbar look how it looked in older Windows operating systems.

ScreenToGif - Need to record your desktop and send it to a friend? ScreenToGif has you covered.

SSB Roster Maker - Make your own fictional Smash roster with no image editing skills required!

VS Codium - Fork of VS Code with Microsoft's telemtry removed. If you're using it for a website, make sure to get the LiveServer extension. Makes testing things a breeze.

WACUP - Fork of WINAMP maintained by a former developer of the program. Behaves mostly the same as the 5.666 release of Winamp with added improvements such as built in last.fm support and QOL improvements to metadata editing.

Soulseek - P2P client for sharing files. Great for downloading music, but has lots of other things as well.

Paint.net - A simple and intuitive image editing program that is completely free. Been using this actively for over a decade and don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Notepad3 - A program that sort of bridges the gap between base Notepad and Notepad++. It has text editor functionality, but also works quite well just for writing normal .txt files. Very good UI design as well.

Onion Ring - Simple webring-making script that requires little technical knowledge to use.

4 Dark Racers Clan Forum - Forum dedicated to the 4DR online clan from Mario Kart Wii, contains some nice game-related resources.

Abyssal Chronicles - Tales series fansite. Still online and maintained, but the newer versions seem to have deleted a fair amount of the content that was present on previous ones. Also the old version has retro graphics on it so I'm linking to this one dag on it!

A Glimpsed Horizon - "Welcome to A Glimpsed Horizon, an anime collective which currently houses 718 avatars, 9 textures, 89 PNG renders, and 11 fanlistings."

Amassment Organization - "Welcome to Amassment, a shrine discussion community focused on promoting the production of shrines and fansites."

Angelic-Trust - Website containing downloads and website layouts. Once contained photoshop brushes, but these can sadly no longer be accessed.

Animelyrics - Great tool for finding the lyrics to anime OPs and EDs. Also seems to have a forum which is pretty neat.

Animenation - Vast collection of website links pertaining to anime from the 00s.

Animetheme.com - "Here you will find all kinds of wallpapers, desktop gadgets and downloads featuring your favorite Anime series, Vocaloid characters and video games."

Anipike - The Anime Web Turnpike was the #1 link directory for anime-focused websites in it's day. Unfortunately the later versions of site aged like milk; pages low agonizingly slow and the links often don't work since they aren't direct. As such you can only really browse the earlier versions of the site. Still a ton of websites to sift through though.

Animesuki - Formerly one of the biggest anime piracy websites on the net, it has now become forum-only and exists as a niche phpBB forum where people discuss anime.

Aquilius - Graphics website with a wonderful dreamlike art style. Sadly, a lot of the images weren't archived. But the ones that were are quite wonderful

Archiverse - An extensive archive of the Miiverse service before it went down.

ASCII Art Collection by Lorrie - Contains ASCII art created by a wonderfully talented artist. I really love how this page even colors in the ASCII, very cool.

Astral Contract - An awesome and very in-depth Chrono Crusade fansite. Mostly focuses on the manga.

Atari Age - Forum primarily centered around Atari games and homebrew but has also grown to encompass retro game consoles outside of the Atarisphere.

Atari Forum - Forum dedicated to Atari PCs.

Battle Box Generator - Useful for making your very own alternate history battles in the vein of a Wikipedia page

Beast's Lair - A quite active forum for all things Type Moon.

Boardreader - A forum search engine, combs through indexed forums to find whatever keywords you search up.

CarolinaSucks - A UNC athletics... uh... what's the opposite of a fansite? A hatesite? Yeah that's what it is, a hatesite.

Cartographers' Guild - "The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed."

Catbox - Anonymous file hosting website, good for temporary uploads of images.

Celestial Star - Huge collection of high quality graphics, web layouts, and design tutorials. The site is still up but unfortunately seems to have broke recently so I have to link to an archived copy, I do hope it gets fixed sometime.

Chadsoft - Official website for the CTGP mod for Mario Kart Wii. Notably contains an installation guide for the mod itself as well as time trial leaderboards which are updated directly from the Wii's of players.

Cherry-Skies.net - Collective containing 3 character fansites for Rurouni Kenshin and a neat, partially preserved graphics directory to boot. There's more stuff as well, but not all of it was archived.

Crystal Rain - Graphics website, primarily focuses on avatars with a very bright and dreamy art style.

Cursors-4u - Large repository of custom cursors for every day use or for usage on your website. Got many flaming ultra death sword cursors from here in the past.

Custom Mario Kart Wiiki - "A wiki dedicated to Custom Tracks, Texture Hacks and Custom Characters for Mario Kart Wii. We have 14,875 articles."

EvaGeeks - A forum for hardcore Evangelion fans.

EvaUnit007 - Though much of the site wasn't preserved, this page contains an awesome collection of custom made avatars and forum signatures.

Eri Fan Club Propaganda Office - "EFCPO is the branch of the Eri Fan Club with a sole purpose: spread the Eri's fandom in the world. Everybody should love and praise our Ooujo (Princess)."

Final Fantasy VII Citadel - A very extensive Final Fantasy VII fansite.

Fire Emblem Shrine - Fire Emblem fansite that contains guides for all of the games and an inactive forum.

Fancaps - Great repository of anime screenshots and also great for getting pictures of a character while avoiding spoilers since you can look through the episodes you've seen without going further (so long as you stay a page or so back)

Fanlore - Website dedicated to, well, lore about fandoms over the years. I particularly like reading it's articles about events that occured in the fansite sphere.

FinalGear.com - Fanforum for the television shows Grand Tour and Top Gear, as well as subforums dedicated to discussing cars in general.

Flags of the World - "Flags of the World (FOTW), founded in 1994, is the Internet’s largest site devoted to vexillology (the study of flags). Here you can read more than 86,000 pages about flags and view more than 203,000 images of flags of countries, organizations, states, territories, districts and cities, both past and present."

FlyingOmelette.com - Personal website of an avid video game player that has wrote a lot of interesting reviews.

Fourfa - Informative site about the history of emo music and other things associated with it. Very useful for clearing up misconceptions of what the label actually means. Make sure to check the links page (from archive.org) if you want to go down the rabbithole even further!

Fighters Generation - Huge database dedicated to chronicling fighting games and their characters as well

FootballIdiot - Forum containing information on installing and modding Madden 08, the final Madden game released on PC natively.

Fullmetal-Alchemist.com - Fullmetal Alchemist fansite containing a detailed synopsis, character profiles and other cool goodies.

Gifcities - Extremely useful not only for finding authentic old school images/gifs, but also helps you discover sites since every image links back to the site it was found on. Indespensible resource for any webmaster, greatly aided in the construction of my website.

GinEiDen.net - French Legend of the Galactic Heroes fansite that's been online since at least 2007.

Gineipaedia - Wiki that covers and documents historic events in the Legend of the Galactic Heroes timeline.

GTA San Andreas - Extensive fansite for GTA San Andreas

Guardian Angels - Xenogears fansite including a complete plot timeline and some interesting analysis of said plot as well.

Gundam Project - Vast Gundam fansite containing in-depth information about the universe.

Halopedia - "Halopedia is a comprehensive wiki and encyclopedia dedicated to the Halo video game franchise from Microsoft, with 16,270 articles."

Hardcore Gaming 101 - A site dedicated to covering obscure, niche games. You can find a lot of interesting titles through here.

Horror.com - A website dedicated to horror films and other such media. Online since 1994 and has a somewhat active forum.

HowLongToBeat - Though this site is quite well known for containing lengths for any game under the sun, few are aware that it also has useful functionality as a MAL equivalent for game lists. Definitely my favorite of all the ones I've tried in the niche, lots of statistics and a very extensive database.

Hunter X Hunter RPG - Hunter x Hunter roleplaying forum that still sees some activity.

HTML Text Generator - Automatically adds paragraph tags to text instead of you having to place all of them manually.

Initial D World - An Initial D fansite that also hosts the largest Initial D forum on the web.

IronMouse - Site with shrines dedicated to a wide variety of video game characters. Contains lots of 2000s fanart in them as well.

jinkaku.org - Collective containing fanlistings and extremely well-designed fanshrines for mostly video game and anime related topics.

Judy Blume on the Web - Personal website of author Judy Blume which contains writing-related content and articles.

Kanzenshuu - Website for hardcore Dragon Ball fans, containing lots of information about the series. Also has a forum, as well as a wiki.

Kingdom Hearts Insider - Fansite dedicated to the Kingdom Hearts series that contains a semi-active forum. Fun to browse through.

Kitty Corp Meow Mix Forums - Forum dedicated to modding Super Smash Bros, mainly Brawl.

Koshka's Kingdom - Website containing information on ASD as well as a more personal side pertaining to the webmaster's interests.

Magistream - Roleplay forum that takes place in a fairly extensive fantasy world.

Mango Reviews - Website of a couple of people who reviewed graphics pages. Provides great insight in to what people valued in both web design and graphics in the 2000s, as well as some humor in how merciless it is.

Mario Kart 64 Player's Page - A website where Mario Kart players submit their times and battle against one another in the rankings. Though originally for Mario Kart 64, it contains pages for all of the other games as well.

Mär Heaven Journey - Fansite for the anime Märchen Awakens Romance. Also hosts many well-designed fanlistings.

MarioKartWii.com - Forum for Mario Kart Wii gecko codes and other hacks for usage in emulators.

Megatokyo - Webcomic that's been continously updated since 2000. Has other quirks as well, such as a forum and a designated rant section.

Minitokyo - Website containing official art & scans predominantly from old school anime as well as wallpapers from that time period

MKLeaderboards - Updated Time Trial leaderboards for Mario Kart Wii, 7 and 8 Deluxe.

Mkwrs - Website containing updated world records for every track in every Mario Kart game. Make sure to check the links out on the sidebar; here's a real cool collection of world record videos.

Mobygames - A vast video game database containing extensive credits for every game as well as promo art and other information that's hard to find for just about any game.

Panzer Dragoon Legacy - Panzer Dragoon fansite. Includes lots of goodies such as detailed official art collections (wonderful considering the art for the games was drawn by the great Moebius) and a forum.

Paradigm City - Fansite dedicated to the anime "The Big O". Singlehandedly convinced me to watch the show at some point in the future.

Paradox Wikis - The best public source of information for Paraodx grand strategy games. Contains invaluable information as well as guides for playing as nations in the games.

Piero Scaruffi's Knowledge Base - Homepage of music critic Pierro Scaruffi.

Pimp My Profile - Old-school website that was popular on MySpace. Still contains lots of custom CSS that could be useful on modern revival sites like SpaceHey.

Planet Dreamcast - Fansite and former news center for the late Sega Dreamcast. Hosted many game-related fansites in the past. Still online but it's actual content is dead on the current version, most of it can be viewed through the internet archive though.

Planet Minecraft - Long-lived aggregator for fan-made content on Minecraft, especially skins and mods.

Planet Namek - A well known and influential Dragon Ball fansite. I especially like the little Red Ribbon rank tree it has, never knew that there was an established hierarchy.

Pootato.org - A website which was designed to aid beginner web designers and graphic artists. Contains lots of borders and brushes (some of which can still be downloaded) especially for use with graphical design.

Pretendo Network - "Pretendo is a free and open source replacement for Nintendo's servers for both the 3DS and Wii U, allowing online connectivity for all, even after the original servers are discontinued"

Pro Football Researchers - Website dedicated to reporting and chronicling old football history. You can read most of the articles for free and it contains one of a kind interviews and information that you can't really find anywhere else.

PSO-World.com - Long-lived Phantasy Star Online fansite with a forum that's been online since 2000.

ROBLOX Forum Archive - A complete archive of the ROBLOX forums made before they were taken down in 2017.

RetroGameTalk - The new location of CDRomance. You must make an account to download, but it contains all of the same pre-patched ISOs that CDR did. Also has a forum.

Reverie - Extremely well-designed graphics page containing resources on web design as well. One of my favorites.

Salvaged.nu - Site that recovers 2000s-era web graphics from the internet archive and reuploads them for archival purposes.

Shenmue Dojo - Fansite dedicated to the Shenmue game series, most known for it's forum but also has lots of other goodies. Includes an extremely detailed history of Shenmue fansites which is a fascinating read

Shin Force - Multi purpose website dedicated primarily to gaming but also has anime reviews and even a page dedicated to the Cleveland national air show of all things. Online since 1999.

Signature Bar - Though most of the images sadly were not archived, this page contains some tutorials, information, programs and links about making graphics.

Unitarium Time Calculator - Very useful for calculating low amounts of time, especially milliseconds. I frequently use this for calculating lap splits in MKW.

UROULETTE - Website that takes you to a random page. Also has a vast link directory that randomizes on every page refresh.

VampireFreaks - Website dedicated to people who loved gothic fashion and were generally into that whole vampire craze in the 2000s. Still online but is nothing more than a clothing store nowadays.

VideoGame Avatars - "This is a collection of FREE AVATARS based on video games (mostly from console RPGs and adventure games). New icons are added regularly so don't forget to visit our pages!"

VideoGameGeek - Website that has list functionality similar to that of MAL. Has a forum and allows for cool profile customization with features like the microbadges.

Vimm's Lair - ROM Website dedicated to preserving the classics. Though it was sadly raided a while back, I still feel the need to put it here because it still has a lot of files and served me well for many years. Fantastic UI design as well.

Waifu2x - Image upscaler, useful for old-school anime renders.

Weathernerds - Similar to tropical tidbits in purpose but contains some tools that the former doesn't such as additional radar imagery.

Wiby.me - Search engine that only indexes web 1.0 sites.

Xbox-HQ.com - Website dedicated particularly to Xbox homebrew but also has fansite-esque content outside of that as well.

Xenogears: The Nisan Sanctuary - An extensive and fleshed out Xenogears fansite that's been online since 1999.

YouChew - A now-defunct forum which was the main hub for YouTube Poop discussion back in the day. You can still view it's forum archives, which contain resources on YTPing.
